Suppose you have a chemical imbalance in your brain that causes you to feel depressed all the time, and your doctor prescribes a drug to help balance those chemicals. In this case, would drugs be an acceptable way to alter your mood?

The word drug is too general, when discussing proper use it's better to be specific. Like...
Is it okay to consume caffeine in small or large quantities? Is it okay to take an aspirin? An aspirin a day? 10 aspirins a day? etc. The Gruff Billies Clan:
