Veggienauts Bramble Alternative - Cage of Thorns
I don't know how the Bramble testing is going, but in case the current ability isn't viable, I wanted to suggest an alternate that might be cool.

Bramble can trap an enemy unit with Thorns
(Thorns are just on the unit's hex, not surrounding hexes)
  • Range 3
  • Thorns have 3 HP, and the unit cannot be used until Thorns are destroyed
  • Thorned unit is treated as yours for movement and sight, i.e. you can move through it
  • Bramble can add Thorns onto a unit already in Thorns - this adds 2 HP to the Thorns (Max 4 HP)
  • Bramble has 2 HP (3 boosted), movement of 3

- Versatile, fun to use in different situations
- Turtle breaker, ideal for bombshells

This could largely use existing graphics - just overlay the thorns on the unit.

It is this ability that I thought the first time I saw Bramble before reading its description, like the ability of Treants in HOMM5 Tongue

However, if the current capacity is maintained, I'll see it on a new team of undead where the special unit is a spider spins its web on enemy units

I see that I'm not the only ont who fought on undead race with spider that using web to capture enemy units.And yes the idea of puting this ability on the bramble is totally cool.

Glad you guys like it Smile Forgot to mention it would have 2 HP (3 boosted), and have Movement of 3, so combined with its range, it would have decent survivability.

Great idea. I'd make a couple slight changes. I'd make it more of a strangle, where he wraps his thorns around the unit, as if he were tied up with rope. Only teammates can destroy the trap, not the trapped unit. Maybe even have HP deteriorate 1 per turn. Also, I'd allow sight but not passage.

Yes that's what I meant - the unit would be trapped and unusable until freed (edited OP to be clearer).

By allowing passage I thought it would be useful against turtles.

HP deterioration sounds cool heh.

Sorry don't think I was clear - only the unit itself is trapped (the thorns are on the unit). NOT surrounding it Big Grin

Nice idea, we'll keep it in mind, although I'm interested in why you might think it isn't viable
