Yeah, I agree. If I had known how to deal with it, I could have taken him. Ahh well...

I was top ten in my gifted league division, but was demoted one day without even playing a game. Im having a hard time actually winning games now, and i could use some tips. Not like a turn-by-turn strategy, just helpful tips and tricks. Smile

Big fat thread in bold and stickied if you looked thoroughly or looked at all that says "tips for new players" on the forum.

Epic fail.

Yeah. On hindsight, I see a few dumb moves, like on turn 8. Why did I move my heavy and runner forward? Or on turn 10. Why did I make a bombshell??? ಠ_ಠ I'm wondering if you guys can catch other mistakes I made. Thanks.

Hello! What do you think about this game?
I think I was lucky my opponent made some stupid errors towards the end, maybe because he thought he already won (as did I), in fact at the start he gave me some serious beating... how could I have prevented this?

Heya! While I'm by no means as good or qualified as our helpful Super-Titans, I hope it's ok if I just speak my mind nonetheless.

I think it comes down to not having enough units and losing your investments with only little gain.

Turn 3: I'm not a big fan of just getting a runner hit on your opponent's base in because you can. Especially when your plan is to save up for a bigger unit, sacrificing the few units you have is not ideal. You could have spent the 2 wits for moving and attacking into getting out a soldier instead and still save up the same amount. So you end up 1 Soldier, 1 Heavy, 1 Medic vs. 1 Runner, 2 Soldiers, 1 Heavy and 1 Medic after turn 4. - On maps with only 1 Spawn you usually have to get a unit out every turn for the first few turns - otherwise you just will be greatly outnumbered.

Turn 5: I don't like the runner positioning. You know where his runner is and he can see you moving the runner there. Losing that runner on turn 6 could possibly have been avoided. Also probably getting a Soldier or Heavy out instead of the runner would have been better, because you're already at a disadvantage in fire power for not getting a unit Turn 3 and a runner doesn't help you with that. I'd gladly sacrifice vision for one turn if that means catching up with fighting units. If you saw a runner sneaking up on your medic you couldn't have done much to prevent that anyway if you don't wall off and walling off can be done without vision too and is necessary at some point anyway.

Turn 7: He was so kind to let you see the movement of his Heavy, so you knew your soldier would die on turn 8. Tradings so far: You lost 2 Runners and 1 Soldier for taking out one of his runners and 1 base HP. You can't effectively recover from that if your opponent is already halfways in your territory.

Turn 11: While a cool move, it didn't really pay off. It was probably the best move you could do at that point though.

Imo the unit disadvantage by not getting a Soldier or Heavy (or even a runner) out on Turn 3 just snowballed through the whole game.

Hi, I'll try to provide some thoughts.

Turn 2-On glitch, the first player has the ability to take out a 4 health heavy standing on the wit space, as happened to you. As p2, it's best to always boost the heavy if you're going to take the wit space. Another option is to use a runner to take it (and also get some vision on the opponent).
It's not a good idea to spawn a sniper on your first move. Since it has 1hp, it is easy for a runner to pick off so you want to have some defense around it before you put it in play. Boosting it with the medic is another good option (if you make one later in the game).

Turn 4-You can probably predict there is a heavy on the wit space, and also a medic back there. It's better to wait until you can fully kill a unit to attack it, rather than partially do like you did and have the opponent use the medic to heal. Also heavies can one kill a 3hp soldier in one hit, so sending your soldier right to the shark's side was basically inviting your opponent's shark to lunch.

Turn 8-Same as turn 4. You're lucky the opponent didn't move the medic up first (a real mistake) which let your sniper kill the attacking heavy the next turn. If instead you had saved your soldier from turn 4 and used it together with the new one from turn 8, you would have had a good chance of killing the heavy without losing two units.

Afterwards, you played fine and took advantage of your opponent's mistakes.

In general, I noticed that you didn't use a single runner in the game. You need to have some balance so that you can see what is coming from your opponent. That will allow you to plan a defense and anticipate an opening such as your opponent's better. Hope it was helpful!
