Try distant star. It's a then based strategy game that I'm still getting the hang of. You play against up to 15 computer opponents. I've only completed one full game but I liked it during that.

Distant star's tutorial is REALLY lacking and the game is not that great, but it has that oldschool feel to it.
 I think it could probably be the starting point for something bigger though, because the core game works solidly. Rising Star Tournament for Fluffy, Clever and Gifted players - FINAL ROUND started! |

Buster spirits
Fun retro space game I was a bit skeptical at first but the game gets really hard and it's quite fun actually. The music IMO is the best part! |

Angry Birds and its HD version are free. Try also Knights of Pen & Paper. It is a pixel/retro-themed game.

Once (i think in December)all the apps from Halfbrick Studios went free for a whole day. Including Fruit Ninja.
