Delayance in watching replays? - vegaprom - 01-27-2013 04:51 PM

When watching replays, does anybody notice that between moves, sometimes there is a pause while sometimes doesn't? Does that reflect the thinking time of the player before going on with the turn?

I think it's just them making moves that you can't see because of the fog of war.

It's been brought up before, and it is a randomly generated delay by the app to reduce the predictability of moves in the FoW.

Really? Good to know.

And how about the delayance in watching finished replays from other players? Since there's no FOW after the game has been finished?

The delays are for all moves, in and out of the FoW, but since you can see things OUTSIDE the FoW, then the delays only really impact perception of things in the FoW. Hope that makes sense Tongue

The delays are not random, they are caused by somebody tapping units and checking their range, i.e. they're thinking.

Hmm, you're right. Shorter delays come from selecting etc, however.

Longer delays happen with move cancellation. When you go to move a character, but hit the cancel button on the confirmation, that actually counts as, and makes delays as long as actually moving. Try it in Pass'n'Play. Have the FoW obscure one side, switch to that side and cancel moves (but don't actually do anything), switch back and check the replay.

If that's right, FoW mindgames just hit a new level!

But it tells you when something is moving in the fog with the guy in the upper right
