Hiding your opponent team until you see a unit is interesting, but in practice it doesn't hide much. Nearly every map has a starting unit that you can see if not the first turn, then on the second turn.
Implementing a "random" choice to pick your own team would be pretty easy, but it's also easy for you to do your own by just rolling a dice, or flipping a coin, or going online and using a random number generator, etc., so they probably won't spend time to implement that.
