Yes, but what do you have against just leaving it wide open for the leaders to select? That's what I don't understand.

Because this way is what I've learned from tournaments in the world. The participants don't choose anything about formats or rules in a tournament. And I think it's fair enough. There might be some cases where reasonable stuff could be missing and the moderator hears suggestions from whoever. But he'll make the last decision anyway.

Yet, it'll be up to the moderator what to do with his tourney, and I respect what they'd do.
