2hp + wit return does seem quite strong

I think 2hp is right.
And I realize that 2hp without wit return may seem like a buff, but this imbetween is likely to be off.

Though perhaps I'm just perseverating. Perhaps it just means bramble will play much differently and be used primarily as an offensive and screening force. Rather than a wall generator.

...that does sound more fun
