Map Selection: I never get certain maps
I know random does not mean equally distributed, but looking at the OSN records, I rarely get certain maps, while others I get a whole lot.

For instance, of my 61 or so games, only 1! has been Long Nine, while War Garden, which is newer, I have played 9 times.

Map distribution:

Long Nine: 1
Foundry: 9
Glitch: 5
Peekaboo: 5
Reaper: 4
SkullDuggery: 1
Sharkfood Island: 11
Sweet Tooth: 3
Sweetie Plains: 8
Thorn Gulley: 5
War Garden: 9

It's likely just the randomness, but are there certain maps people like to play that get selected to be played more often (1st player can map select), or is the randomess broken? I'm rarely 1st player, so I didn't map select this distribution. (I've map selected as 1st player to prevent a SvS gruel match on Peekaboo, so that statistic might be slightly skewed).

I guess I should check OSN and all maps played if I really wanted to figure it out, but I wouldn't want to do that manually =P

Hm, have had the same feeling for a while.

My top 3 at them moment:

1. Skullduggery
2. Foundry
3. Reaper

These three are waaay ahead of all the others. Haven't had War Garden, Peekabo or SP at all in my last 30 games..Strangely I believe Foundry has always been one of the most selected maps and the count in your stats seems to confirm that. Looking forward to other opinions!

I almost never get Reaper, seem to get Long Nine quite a lot.

Why do you expect an equilibrated amount of play? Each time you launch a game the map is selected randomly! People always associate random with fair, but having an equal amount of map played is as likely as having 9 matches on one and 1 on another Smile

It keeps changing, when i first played, i got SFI a lot and some Sweetie Plains. Then i got Peekaboo once and i thought it was am interesting map because it looked weird compared to the other 2. I also got Long Nine a few times. Basically got mostly Scallywags maps. But then they were mostly Sweetie Plains. Then later, i got Foundry, my first Feedback map, and my game list finally got a new picture besides flowers and the beach. But then almost all the games i started were Foundry. And some Reaper in the mix.

I hear there's a secret Mobi hidden here somewhere…

Statistically speaking, no. I believe what you're trying to say is that it is possible, but saying that it is "as likely" is not true. For example, if you flip a coin 10 times, it is possible to get 9/10 heads, but the probability that you get 9/10 rather than 5/10 is definitely different Smile.

The coin doesn't remember what happenned before, so there are as much chances to get for example (let's call one face 1 and the other face 2) 1-1-1-2-1-1-1-1-2-1 as to get 1-2-1-2-2-1-1-2-1-2, no?

Even so, I feel bullied by getting Thorn Gulley six times in a row. It's my worst map too.

Once a master of nothing, now a noob to pretty much everything.
Hiatus resolved. I stalk these hallways again.

Yes, when you compare two exact sequences of coin flips, they are equally likely. However, there are far, far more ways to get 5 heads and 5 tails (many, many ways) than there are to get 10 heads in a row (only 1 possible way).

For instance:
