[Winner: Mag!cGuy] 2v2 Random "All your unit are belong to us" tournament
Edit: Important rule update:
From 0 GMT (18 March), the person who is in column G has 2 days to start a game.

Should this not happen, the person in column H has 2 days to start a game.

Should this not happen, the person in column I has 2 days to start a game.

Should this not happen... I give up Smile.

Since the rules of the "All your unit are belong to us" tournament are still clear in people's minds, I thought it is time for my first 2v2 tournament:

the 2v2 Random All your unit are belong to us tournament

(sorry about the name - but I couldn't really think of anything)

Please ensure that you understand and remember these rules:

Important Rules for this tournament
  • You are only allowed to build or destroy Scramblers
    • As this is a random 2v2 tournament, I'll be a bit more lenient with this rule, allowing one rematch should it not be clear who the winners are
  • Player 1 can choose both their partner and the map
  • All games must be started before 18 March. As this a 2v2 tournament, games will take much longer, and I don't want the tournament to last forever. If they are not started, the points for the game will be shared between everyone "who is not guilty". The guilty party will normally be P1, but could also be a player whose games are full during the first week - post on the forum if you are unable to start a game with someone.
  • Both winners should post the result if the game - please include the number of rounds
  • Bad Things will happen

Ok, onto more detail:

You are only allowed to build and destroy scramblers
  • You are only allowed to create scramblers.
  • Normal units are not allowed to attack normal units. Scramblers and bases are fair game for anything that can attack them.
  • Scramblers can brainwash anything.
  • One rematch is allowed should someone forget the rules and the game is still undecided. If there is contention about this, please post on the forums with your reasons of why a rematch should be allowed/rejected. Other players will be allowed to give input, but the final decision lives with me.

Player 1 can choose both their partner and the map

It's not as confusing as it sounds. On the Fixtures page, you will see your name as Player 1, with 3 names next to it. Start a friendly 2v2 game, and pick any of those 3 players as your partner. Enter the other two names as your opponents.

If this is still unclear, let me know and I'll post an example.

Signups

19 people. This is cast in stone. First 15-19 from any league/rank.

I am reserving 4 spots, one for bobolynx for being the mastermind behind the game, and 3 for the top 3 of the "All your unit are belong to us" tournament - aaronINDayton, GeHeat3 and .Memories.. They have until the tournament starts to let me know if they want to join.

Tournament Format
  • Tournament starts on 8 March to allow everyone to clear up some of their games.
  • Everyone will play a total of 8 games - 2 as Player 1, and 6 in other positions.
  • Player with the most points win. If there is a tie-break, average rounds will be used.
  • 12 points will be awarded per game, 6 to the two winners.
  • If a match is not started in time (18 March), the points will be shared between the other players. This will be 4 points each.
  • All games will be played against different random players, in the format:
    • You will not be in a group with the same Player 1 more than once.
    • You should be matched in a group with 17 of the other 18 players 1-2 times.
    • In other words: There might be someone you are not matched with. The complexity of these groups did not allow me to ensure that everyone is matched at least once.
    • Additional Rules
      • Remind your opponents of the game rules if you are Player 1.
      • If someone chooses the wrong team, it's a rematch.
      • Should someone withdraw from the tournament (please don't!) and it is too late to replace them, 4 points will be awarded to all opponents for games that are not yet finished. This isn't very fair, but this format requires exactly 19 people.

      Bad Things will happen
      • As with normal random games, Bad Things can (and will) happen. These include:
        • Being paired with a weak partner
        • Your partner doing something stupid
        • Your partner giving up for no apparent reason
        • Your partner breaking the rules - twice!
        • Your game timing out because your partner didn't move
      • While I agree that these things are really bad, it is part of the risk of 2v2 - don't sign up if you can't deal with them, and don't take it out on your partner if they are not doing as well as you are.

Results are here. It has 3 sheets:
      • Fixtures - where you see who you should be creating games with/against
      • Results - This looks a bit different from the normal formats. You are the column, and will see your total points at the bottom of the grid. The names in the rows are not your opponents, but the player 1 for a particular game.
      • Figures - Includes some information about leaders/games left. It's not as comprehensive as my previous tournament due to the complexity of the 2v2 format.
