After thinking on it for a while, I'd say it helps to apply Kartian(this the correct terminology for Kant) morality to the trolley(trains) scenarios.

Pushing the fat man is directly killing him for an end. Death of the fat man is a means to save them. The action you perform is killing.
pulling the lever has the lives saved/lost an end. The means is the lever, the end is the lives.

I'd take something to be able to write on infinatly with very long lasting material(so i can write my thoughts, even if no-one ever reads it).
Second I'd take a heavy-duty axe with built in solar-powered sparky hot thing.
Finally a tarp! :X
