Outwitters WORLD CUP Winner - Alvendor (SWEDEN)
OUTWITTERS WORLD CUP

STANDINGS

ELIMINATION ROUND DETAILS

MATCH DETAILS

Format
The first phase of this tournament is the Group Play round. As can be seen in the attached pdf file, participants have been broken up into groups of four. All 32 players are initially given a seed, this seed is only used to determine initial group placement. (For details on how the seeds were used to assign groups please see my post on page 9 of this forum)

The top two teams in each group (more details in Group Play Rules section) will advance to the second phase of the tournament.

Group Play Rules
Every player will play a single "match" against all three other players in his or her respective group. A match is a pair of games, with each player starting as First Player on the map displayed in the attached details.pdf file.

How to read the standings
MP = Matches Played
W = Wins (winning both games in a match)
D = Draws (winning one game and losing one game in a match)
L = Losses (losing both games in a match)

PF = Game Points For
PA = Game Points Against
+/- = Game Point Differential

These will be very important in this tournament and is my way of dealing with the FTA in the game. PF is based on the number of turns it took for the winner to settle the match. The faster you can settle a game, the more points you are awarded.

The PF awarded will be as follows:
SMALL MAPS (1 wit space each)
+4 points for 12 turns or less
+3 points for 28 turns or less
+2 points for 48 turns or less
+1 point for 49 turns or more

LARGE MAPS (2 wit spaces each)
+4 points for 14 turns or less
+3 points for 32 turns or less
+2 points for 56 turns or less
+1 point for 57 turns or more

If the victor is the Second Player, one additional game point will be awarded for PF. PA is the opposite of PF.

PTS = Total Points

This is the number one criteria for determining Group Rankings. Wins are worth 3 PTS, Draws are 1 PTS, and Losses are 0 PTS. Ties will be broken in the following order

1) Game Point Differential
2) Head-to-head
3) Head-to-head Game Point Differential
4) Head-to-head number of turns taken

Map Assignments
Match assignments have been posted in the attached details.pdf. Each player should have 6 games to play (3 as Player 1 and 3 as Player 2).

Elimination Round Rules
The second phase of the tournament is a single elimination 16 person tournament. As in the Group Play, each match will consist of two games on the map displayed on the bracket. Each player will be the First player once.

In the case of a tie (each player wins one game)

In the Round of 16, the winner will be declared as the player who was able to win his or her game in less turns!

In the Quarterfinals/Semifinals/Finals, a third game will be played (not a match). The "advantaged" player will get to choose both the map to be played and the turn order.

The advantaged player is deciding in the following order:

1. Less number of turns taken on winning game
2. More base health remaining on winning game

If there is amazingly no advantaged player, another match (2 more games) will be played on the map of the previous round in the tournament.

Commentary on your games along with uploaded replays would be appreciated by anyone trying to watch the games!

Reporting Matches
Replay links must be saved for all games of the tournament and all games must be reported. To report a game please post here on this forum with the following details:

Map
First Player
Second Player
Winner
Number of Turns Taken
Replay Link

Note that this is for one GAME, both games must be reported for each match. I will post live standings (or as live as possible) as games are reported. Replays will be available by clicking on the winner's name in details.pdf.

LOST REPLAYS
It is ultimately the responsibility of a winner of a game to keep and post the replay of that game. Failure to do so will result in one of the following two options:

1) Replay the game
2) The winner will be recorded with no replay but only awarded one Game Point (i.e., as if it took an infinite number of turns to win).

Disclaimer:
To compete fairly in this tournament, you will need to purchase all the teams to be able to start games on all the maps. Although it is not required that you purchase the teams, note that you will be forfeiting your right to be the First Player on any map you cannot start a game on.
