Newbie with base question

I've been playing for a couple of weeks and love Outwitters. I've got a Question I'm hoping someone can help me with. I definitely enjoy certain bases more than others. I've bought the new ones and new characters. When starting a new 1x1 league game, is there a way to select base preference? I totally understand that it's already selected when I join a match started be someone else. But the few times that I'm the first player, there doesn't seem to be a way to choose. Help?

Just go to your profile, in the top right there will be a "change bases" icon. From there you can switch the default bases to the ones you bought for each race.
