  • Added the new Veggienauts team.
  • Reaper Map
  • Thorn Gulley Map
  • 2nd player starts with 8 wits.
  • Bonus wit per kill.

There is a combobox that lets you select if you want the old style of wit counting (Version 1.0 - 1.1) or the new style (Version 1.2). That way you can look back at older replays with the correct counts.

I'm still looking for a replay on the Veggienauts 2v2 map so that I can get that supported. If anyone has a replay link for that, please let me know.

wow. +1 from me.

Awesome update! Thanks!

That was a quick update! Did you get any help from One Man Left, or did you have to reverse engineer the replay format yourself? If so, is it hard and what tools do you use for that?

I'm not planning on doing anything similar, just interested as a programmer to know how you do stuff like that...

RE: Outwitters Sports Network Discontinued - CodePenguin - 11-25-2012 04:18 AM

It is all totally reverse engineered. I gather replay data for all the specific actions, maps and stuff that I need to implement such as the new Bramble unit. I then look through the data and then write code to handle all the actions that it would. The graphical side of OSN is written in Processing and then converted to Javascript with ProcessingJS. So everything is drawn and calculated inside the browser from the same replay data that the game uses. I promised OneManLeft that I wouldn't give any other specific details such as data or communication protocols so that it can not be used for malicious purposes. But that is the gist of it.

You said you were wondering if any1 had any ideas.
How about a play button (like the one outwitters replay has) for people 2 lazy to press "next frame" continously?

Aside from that great job!!

like a slideshow button? and what would the ideal time frame to move from slide2slide? i dont think thats a good idea. the time it takes to make that wouldnt be worth the purpose. (unless its really easy to make but i wouldnt know)

I just posted an OSN Update that includes the following:
  • Added a play button that will auto move to next frame every 3 seconds. (game_taker's idea)
  • Added P keyboard shortcut for Play/Pause.
  • Added J/K keyboard shortcuts for Previous and Next Frame.
  • Added N/M keyboard shortcuts for Previous and Next Turn.

The J/K shortcut is the shortcut I never knew I always wanted!

Also, to CombatEX, the title of this thread should be changed to "Outwitters Sports Network Totally Not Discontinued At All"

I would like to add that for me the reason I never commented or discussed this replay tool is that there was nothing wrong with it. I had nothing to say because it was just right. What I should have said is thank you for providing such an excellent tool.
