Rounding is inaccurate. Join the fractions side.
Fractions are so....incomplete.

PUN SO INTENDED!

Here's a compromise. Instead of:

1/2
0.5

we do:

0.5/1

Compromise.

Utterly useless, but it's a compromise.

And what if they are >1?

I see you.

Guys, decimals are fractions.

We are arguing over whether it's better to express a rational number, which, when simplified as a fraction, has a denominator which can be expressed in the form 2^m * 5^n, as a fraction or as a decimal.

Legacy is confused.

In other words, the topic of discussion is not whether decimals themselves are better than fractions, whether numbers are better expressed as fractions or decimals.

Oh my goodness. You guys are still talking about that? Rolleyes

Expressing numbers as fractions is more appropriate in pure math, where you are actually dealing with precise numbers.

Expressing numbers with decimals is more appropriate when you are performing scientific experiments, where you literally can't know the precise numbers on account of measurement error and therefore have to approximate.

The end.

Pure math vs. science then!

I'm for pure math

RE: Last post wins. - baustin42 - 10-22-2014 10:15 AM

Pure math is a science.

This is my identity now. The italics guy.

RE: Last post wins. - Flarp55 - 10-22-2014 10:41 AM

Let me revise that. Pure math vs physical sciences.
