The 2v2 random OPEN



Format
Matchups

Rules
Qualifiers

Each round consists out of a best of 5 with your direct opponent. Every competitor is paired to one opponent, and each pair is paired to another pair to make matches. Games 1-4 are seeded with fixed teammates, turn order and maps:

Round 1: Candy Core Mine
Round 2: Machination
Round 3: Acrospire

Game 5 is a tiebreaker. Of each bracket, the lower seeded one is selected, and one of them is randomly picked to choose a teammate. He will start as P2, and is already filled in on the match details. Map will be Blitz Beach for the full qualifiers.

Reporting games

When reporting a game, please use the following format:

IMPORTANT!!!
If you are chosen to pick a teammate, please make a decision soon!
The 5th game is played at the same time as the other games!

You have up to January the 16th to finish your matches! Please make sure you play them!

Well, i was thinking of some variant on Swiss, like in that other tournament, but i/we have to think that through a bit.

Sounds like everyone signs up then would be randomly paired and that's your team for the tournament. I think Eijolend's partner switching would be way more fun! Throw together a structure and I'll sign up.

Yes, i was thinking of Eijolend's idea, the same as in normal league play Smile.

For the system, i was thinking of a Swiss-Elimination hybrid, but i'm still thinking things out. The best part of Swiss is that we can just pair players normally, and then pair pairs to make matches (easy as pieTongue).

I haven't played much 2v2 only because it's hard to get three people to play steadily and have won and lost most matches by time out. I would definitely play if only to get some quality matches Smile
