I have a question. Who are the Veggienaughts? Are they a new race, similar to the Veggienauts, only naughtier?
Perhaps if the Veggienauts ever receive a much needed buff to make them viable they can be rechristened the Veggienaughts.

Lololololol. That's what they're called when they're in beast mode. They will do anything it takes to win, making them much naughtier than the average vegetable.

The problem with veggies is that the bramble is difficult to use effectively. Other specials are fairly self-explanatory as far as how to use them. Wits spent on thorns, however, are usually wits wasted - better spent on normal units. You have to have a plan to use the bramble. You have to mess with your enemy's head. It's very tricky. There are some players (Pharmafan) that do this very well, and there is definitely a minority contingent in the community that will tell you Veggies are just as good or even better than other races. For most of us, it's easier to stick to the original 3.
