Alex: Anti spam thread suggestion - ElPared - 04-04-2014 01:18 PM

I've noticed a lot of spam threads are appearing lately, and I think the problem can be remedied by disallowing threads with URLs in their titles.

most user created legit threads will not contain a URL in the title, but I've noticed most of the span threads to have an http:// or a .com in them.

Just sayin, maybe it'll help. Not all of them have been like that, but the newest ones have.

Unfortunately, that's too prohibitive.

I do think the spam has picked up, recently, though, which is disconcerting. Sad

Lol you can take it as a good sign means the forms are active enough to spam XD

How about this: use a better captcha when registering.

how is it too prohibitive? I've never seen anyone other than spambots start a thread with a URL in the title

You may want to edit your first post then, because nowhere does it mention "title". Smile

Personally, I think the poppycock forum has a diverse range of keywords floating around that the bots happen to stumble upon Smile

Like auctions, Trojans, and Nike shoes costing 75000 dollars.

Pretty weird keywords
