How long before "inactive" games are "lost" - this_is_jimmy - 10-12-2013 02:11 AM

I have several games on which i am waiting for a response for 5 days now. How long before system decides that those games are forfeited?

It's variable. It takes anywhere from 4 days to 1 week. Very rarely it'll go higher than that.

This seems odd. Why does vary? Based on what?

Yeah, it's a little strange. I don't know why it's variable, but it is. The only thing I can think of is that there is some sort of sweep that occurs periodically (and somewhat infrequently), so the time can vary depending on whether you missed the sweep or not.

Like, if the sweep occurred every week, in theory your game could be at 3 days right after the sweep and then it would be another week before the next sweep got it?

That's just me guessing, I don't know how it's implemented, but it is variable.

It used to be more easily regulated, but since we do not know the exact code, it seems like Alex and Adam are the ones who regulate this, and they've been busy with TtL2

I think they mentioned somewhere that they know it's a bug.. maybe..

Isn't it because of the timezone differences?

I don't think it's just timezone difference, because that at most would cause a 1 day delay, right? I've seen it vary from 4 days to 1 week.

To way more than one week. Then all of a sudden, all of the games that are over 4 days are reset. By reset I mean ended.

I think it's about 6.5 days. That's what happened to all of my unreturned games.
