TGG was being perfectly reasonable in his reply^^.
But to answer your question, I'm from TexasTongue. To answer it further, I'm second generation with nearly all my family in China and I live pretty close to the border with Mexico.

It's fine and yeah, I did get your joke. It's just that I'm being serious here.
I'm really interested in knowing more about how other people study other languages.
I'm thinking of studying another langauge, maybe Spanish cause it's the most accesible atm.

Just here.
I think if you can atleast be as fluent as you are in english in the other 3 it would count as a polyglot.
Interesting.. So which one was your first and second? and how long did it take you to get fairly good in spanish?

Couldn't of taken him to long. He's only 16 years old
He can speak 4 languages by the time he's 16.... Wow.

RE: Polyglotism - TheGoldenGriffin - 07-04-2013 08:22 AM

Actually, theres eight language classes in my school: Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Italian, French, Greek, Latin, Japanese

And then theres ESL
Im pretty sure you cant take all of them though. Theres a special program that lets you learn 1 or 2 extra languages
Wikipedia says my school teaches hebrew but it doesn't say it on the school website.
If you can speak all the different kinds of one language like chinese, does that still count as hyperpolyglot?

I'm not sure if knowing the different types of dialect counts. If it does, I'm a hyperpolyglot.

Mag!cGuy probably learned French first. I learn Chinglish first :3

RE: Polyglotism - Mag!cGuy - 07-04-2013 05:53 PM

French is my mother tongue, i learn english for a very long time, I started to learn spanish when I was 13, and when I say I speak arabic a bit, that's very little bit Big Grin I wouldn't be able to hold a conversation with an arabic speaking person!

So I'm not polyglot aha
