Not sure if this is true with anyone else but...
When I was in the gifted league, I was demoted after a WIN. I've just been promoted into the masters league with a loss. Makes no sense? lol

I think the game does promotions and demotions based on hidden ranking that has something to do with your actual win percentage. If you are at the top of your league, and your hidden ranking passes someone in another league due to their losing, it may not promote you until your next game finishes.
