That was a fun watch. He pretty much gave it to you when he went for your base. He should've continued to attack your soldier and taken out that damn medic! IMO

I know! I was hoping to get the snipers within range and kill them one by one from the spawn point, but I feared he was spawning runners as well.
None of that-- I totally lucked out.

In fact, he could have spawned a soldier and used his existing runner to kill my leading soldier and buy himself more time...

That game was far from over IMO Smile

Usually 2v2s are not all that exciting but this one was really close and interesting. click

This is a crazy mistake riddled 2v2 match where I totally bungled turn 30, but manged to recover and march to victory. Our opponent definitely blew many opportunities with mobi, IMO. How many mistakes can you count?

A 2v2 Gifted premade vs a Gifted random team, involving a Mobi Blitz. This seemed to be a pretty solid strategy in my opinion, but we haven't gotten a chance to try it out more than once.

Very nice. So important to seal off the bases right from the start, even if it's with runners.

That was fun to watch. Though I'm not sure how well that would work against more careful opponents. He could have killed your mobi on turn 10 after you moved it up into that vulnerable position. Sure his soldier would have died (and his runner he would have had to send up there to take the mobi's third health point), but the mobi did cost you 7 to make. Alternatively he could have taken a more defensive approach and simply blocked off his base with 2 soldiers on turn 10 after killing your runner. I'm not sure what would have happened from that point as your mobi would still be a threat (still they wouldn't have lost the game on your next move if they had walled with soldiers). Not sure what he was thinking =/ He was able to see your mobi and it's clear you could move it within range of warping a unit next to his base. Not to mention you hadn't lost your starting heavy so it's safe to assume you would warp your heavy up there.

Anyway, I like the idea of a mobi rush though. I've often considered trying to rush out a mobi like that but usually my ally and I play more defensively since most 2v2 teams we match against start aggression from the start. With our style (holding off the first major push) we can then go on to counter after their aggression has been locked down and we have a superior unit lead. No time to get out special units in our 2v2s unfortunately =(

Fun recent match of mine which brought me greater respect for Mobi. Even after wasting several wits due to forgetting to boost the Mobi right away, and a thrown away soldier due to a heavy surprising me in the fog, some tricksy Mobi moves still got me the win.

....He could have killed your mobi on turn 10 after you moved it up into that vulnerable position.....

....Alternatively he could have taken a more defensive approach and simply blocked off his base with 2 soldiers on turn 10 after killing your runner.....

There was nothing he could do to kill my mobi on turn 10. His soldier had already attacked for the turn, and that was the only thing in range. I presumed that he would attack the runner with the unit that was right there, ensuring the safety of my mobi.

I do like your second idea, though. Blocking off his base really would have messed with my strategy.

Another example of the power of the mobi in long 9.

I do like your second idea, though. Blocking off his base really would have messed with my strategy.

He may have miscounted wits (by 1), but the point to focus on is that your mobi was very vulnerable to the soldier (kill the runner with something else then move the soldier up to hit the mobi). His teammate can then finish off the mobi with a runner on turn 12. But yea as you said I'd rather go for more defensive play (blocking base with soldiers) because then I don't risk overextending myself only to have the mobi get healed by a medic or something on turn 11.

But going back to the mobi and its relatively exposed position on turn 10, it's just risky in general when you move that mobi up like that. If he had had 7wits instead of 6wits he could have killed the mobi. It was a cool strategy but seems a little too risky for me =P you run the risk of losing your mobi when you rush it up so quickly without much support and the benefits are marginalized if your opponent react properly and blocks the base, but hey, if it works for you then that's great ^^ it's always nice to see experimentation with new strategies like this!
