RE: 2013 Winter World Cup - QUALIFIERS - Clover - 01-26-2013 01:25 PM

Please bear with me. I've read the first post over twice now and making sense of who I'm facing is a little troublesome for me.

I understand that I'm in group 13, correct? I'm not sure what a 'seed' number is though.

For reference: My GC is Clover_a

Everyone's seed # is listed in the original post, along with their pertinent information.
For example, I'm seed #96.

96. spacechef - 99 points - #8 (USA)

I am supposed to be player one but my opponent started the game. Is that ok?

178. Clover_a - 114 points - #13 (CAN)

So my seed number would be 178 according to that?

If that's so do I use that number (178) to find my group?

EDIT:

Alright, so if I'm correct my first opponent is of seed 15. If that's the case that means we're facing people of higher and lower skill levels in the qualifying rounds already? I would think something like that would occur near the end through elimination.

As long as its ok with you, I guess, but I'm not sure if there is a specific reasoning behind who is p1 and p2 that only alert unity knows about.

I would chat that you should be p1, start a new game as p1, and end the current game ASAP. Better yet, decline if you haven't accepted.

We are 8 turns in. I'll wait for awpertunity to respond. I think I would be at a disadvantage cause he has already seen my strategy on this map. I thought of declining I guess I should have. Rolleyes

Who is your opponent? If you are actually supposed to be P1 you definitely should cancel your current game and start it the correct way if he had no reason to start it.

That's correct, this is how tournaments normally work Tongue

If no upsets at all occur we want the top 16 players in the final tournament, otherwise the winner would be clear.

Yeah, there are quite a few contestants in this tournament, so unfortunately it isn't practical to have a winners/losers bracket kind of structure to keep lower-ranked players playing longer.

You see this kind of seeding structure all the time in professional competitions--the goal of the seeding, frankly, is to avoid the best players eliminating each other at an early stage of the competition, so you have to watch out for those Titans!
