The Outwitters Uber Cup

In here, competitors can get points for doing well in tournaments. Those points will get added up to make the Uber Cup Leaderboard!

SPREADSHEET

The formula used to determine points awarded is:

(((P-factor-(position-1))^2)/(P-factor^2))*K-factor

Whereas the P-factor is the amount of competitors awarded, and the K-factor is a variable determining the weight that is put on the tournament. When position = 1 the points awarded will equal the K-factor.

I don't like it. I'm not into wasting hours of my time trying to figure out what I have to do in which tournament, how many games to create, which maps to choose whatsoever. So I feel disadvantaged if I don't compete in every tourney. :O

I like it, gives the tourney frequenters something to strive for.

It's not like every tournament is going to be in the Uber Cup, just a selection of them, like the World Cup, the b-ball thing, the 2v2r open and a few future tournaments (WC v2? The next 2v2 tourney?), so you're not overflowing with tourneys you're participating in.

I did something similar for Hero Academy. I think it's a nice idea - but can you handle the extra work Gfich?

It seems like a good idea, but Can my tourney count for it also?

Should you decide points received, the maker of the tourney, or a comitee? I would suggest a comitee. As I think points received should be based on how many games played for some tournaments are bigger than others.

Ok, the first selection of tournaments in the Uber Cup has been made:
  • The World Cup (points for top 16)
  • The b-ball Tourney (points for top 16/32)
  • The 2v2 Random Open (points for top 24)
  • The Outwitters Super Arena (points for top 12/16)
  • The Melodramatic Mini Mobi Tourney (majestically minor amount of points for top 4)
(tourneys are listed in order of amount of points awarded)

Also, i'm placing 2 conditions for tournaments to be included in the Uber Cup:

  1. Tournaments must be open to everyone; no invite-onlys or limitations by League, top 200 placement, or any of that shenannigans.
    • Tournaments that ban certain races, or require certain in-app purchases ARE able to be included.
  2. Tournaments must be played individually; no teamstuffs.
    • Tournaments that you play in 2v2 with a fixed partner ARE able to be included.

I like it. So, naturally people who finish first place will get more points than 16h place, for example? Maybe come up with some formula so you can just enter in the variable maximum amount of points awarded for that particular tournament, make your life easy.

Gfich, what criteria are you using to determine the number of points awarded for a given tournament? I am guessing size, perhaps some consideration of format? i.e. double elimination is more prestigious than single elimination.
Also, isn't the OWSA a 64 person bracket?
You may want to consider including the only two tournaments that have already completed:

Community Tournament (first tournament on the forum ever held)

2v2 Community Tourmament (second tournament on the forum)

Gives you more data, therefore better rankings.

Im thinking that all my mini-tourneys will be 16 people from now on. Sound good?
